Shannon O’Neill is a media artist, academic and curator. He was inaugural director of Electrofringe and now organises the Sydney leg of Liquid Architecture contributing much to the development of genuinely new sound and music in Australia. For the last 15 years he has explored and expanded the possibilities of radio broadcasting, first on community radio and later for 2MBS-FM. Currently he’s set up Alias Frequencies, an independent net label to release some of the music he and his friends produce. Recently Alias Frequencies has been giving away its music and acting as a hub for likeminded folk. Shannon is also a sound designer in the short film production sector winning an AFI award for best sound in 2002 and Greater Union awards in 2003.
